Faith Formation Youth Ministry Summer of Service (S.O.S.)

SUMMER OF SERVICE (S.O.S.) What is Summer of Service? Summer of Service is a Junior High Youth Ministry program for incoming 7th and 8th graders from various Catholic Churches in the
day a week during the summer for six weeks. Approximately 100 youth register each summer. In the mornings the youth are placed in small groups and volunteer at local parishes, parks, soup kitchens and service agencies. In the afternoons, the youth celebrate community fun at one of our six selected social sites. Each day also includes scripture reflections and service learning activities. The program is founded on the scripture teachings of Christ and the social justice teachings of the US Catholic Bishops.
